Taking a Payment
Set up your phone First time only
Do this once, before doors open. About two minutes.
- Install Shopify POS from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in with the login sent to you — [how they log in].
- When asked, turn on Location and NFC. Tap to Pay won't work without them.
- Run one test tap so you know it works before your first customer.
Take the payment
Same eight taps every time. No codes, no cash math — just the sale.

Open Shopify POS
Have it open and ready before the customer reaches you.

Tap [PRODUCT NAME]
One tap adds it to the cart. Tap again for a second unit.

Tap the total to check out
The total button at the bottom opens payment.

Choose Tap to Pay
Select it as the payment method if it doesn't open on its own.

Customer taps the top of your phone
Card, phone, or watch held flat to the top edge — hold still for a second.

Wait for the green check
That's your confirmation the payment went through. Don't move until you see it.

Offer a receipt
Text, email, or skip — the customer's choice.

Tap New sale
Clears the cart for the next person. Ready to go again.
Where the tap happens
The reader is the top of your phone — not the screen.

If something sticks Quick fixes
Tap won't read
Hold the card flat on the top edge, don't move it. Check Location and NFC are on.
"Device not eligible"
Needs iPhone XS or newer, or an NFC Android.
Card declined
Ask for another card, or have them tap a phone or watch instead.
No signal
Move toward [wifi spot]. If it still won't go, flag Veronica.
